The fourth and final painting from my 11th series of mini-abstracts.
For a while now I have been experimenting with straighter, more geometric forms. Normally these have been, in essence, “playing a supporting role” in my work. Here they take centre stage: As such, this painting very much encompasses variations on a theme, with each part similar but not identical: there is considerable variety of size, depth and what could be described as “frame breaks” (elements extending beyond the edges), as well as the occasional missing “chunks” (as if bites have been taken out of them.)
The curved sections add contrast as does the colour scheme: the deep reds and pinks offer a dramatic counterpoint to the two-tone greys of the background, adding up to what I see a quite a striking work.
